What we treat

Tell us what happened. We will get you out of pain.

Most dental emergencies get worse and more expensive the longer they wait. If any of this sounds like your day, call now.

Severe toothacheThrobbing pain, pain when you bite, pain that wakes you up
Chipped or broken toothCracked, fractured, or a sharp edge cutting your tongue
Knocked-out toothTime matters. Call before you do anything else
Swelling or abscessFacial swelling, a gum bump, or a bad taste that will not go away
Lost filling or crownWe can often re-cement or replace it the same visit
Wisdom tooth painPressure at the back of the jaw, swelling, trouble opening
Broken denture or bridgeCracked, loose, or rubbing a sore spot
Bleeding or injured gumsSoft tissue injury, a cut from a fall, or bleeding that keeps up

If you have trouble breathing or swallowing, bleeding you cannot stop, or a serious injury to the face or jaw, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room first.

How the visit works

Three steps from the phone call to relief.

Step 1

Call and describe it

Tell us what hurts and when it started. We will tell you what to do right now to stay comfortable and find you the soonest opening we have.

Step 2

Come in for the $39 exam

Dr. Doshi or Dr. Bavishi looks at the tooth, finds the actual source of the problem, and explains it in plain language. You get the options and the price before anything starts.

Step 3

Get treated and go home

Whenever it is possible, we treat the emergency in the same visit so you leave out of pain instead of booking a second trip.

Sedation dentistry

Scared of the dentist? That is not a reason to stay in pain.

A lot of dental emergencies happen to people who have been putting off the dentist for years, usually because of anxiety or a bad experience. We offer nitrous oxide, better known as laughing gas, so you can get through the appointment calm and comfortable.

  • It works within minutes. You breathe it in through a small mask and the edge comes off almost right away.
  • You stay awake and in control. You can talk to us and breathe on your own the whole time.
  • You can drive yourself home. It wears off quickly, so you can go back to your normal day right after.
  • It is safe and adjustable. You always receive an oxygen-rich mix, and we can dial it up or down during the visit.

Worried about the cost?

Emergencies never show up at a convenient time. We work with most PPO dental insurance and file the claim for you. If you do not have insurance, ask about our in-house membership plan and payment plans when you call, and we will find something that works.

Not sure if it is an emergency?

Call anyway. It costs you nothing to describe what is going on, and we would much rather talk you through it than have you sit on a problem that gets bigger overnight.

Who you will see

Two dentists who are known for a gentle hand.

Most people in a dental emergency have been avoiding the dentist for a while, and they are bracing for a lecture. You will not get one here. You will get an explanation, and nothing starts until you say so.

Dr. Rushabh Doshi, DMD, dentist at Irving Family Dental
DMD with Honors, Boston University

Dr. Rushabh Doshi

Dr. Doshi completed fellowship training in implantology and sleep apnea before moving to DFW with his wife and daughter. He is the one patients ask for when they are nervous. He talks through what he sees on the X-ray first, checks in as he works, and keeps a light touch on teeth that are already sore.

“We strive to provide a comforting and relaxing experience for our patients.”
Dr. Rini Bavishi, DDS, dentist at Irving Family Dental
DDS with Honors, New York University

Dr. Rini Bavishi

Dr. Bavishi holds an MS in Oral Biology alongside her DDS. She leans hard on newer technology for one reason: it makes treatment faster and less invasive, which matters most when a patient is already in pain or anxious. Patients describe her chairside manner as calm and unhurried.

“The most rewarding moments are when a patient walks to the front and confidence is restored in their smile.”
“From the front desk all the way back to the Dentist, they were all so nice and helpful. Definitely my dentist from now on!”

Common questions

Answers before you call.

How fast can I be seen?

We hold room in the schedule for emergencies, so most people who call during office hours are seen the same day. Call as early in the day as you can, since same-day openings fill up.

Do you take walk-ins?

Please call first. One phone call lets us prepare a room and have the right team ready, which usually means you are in the chair faster than if you just show up.

What will this cost me?

The emergency exam is $39 for new patients. Once we know what is going on, you get your options and the exact price in writing before any treatment starts. No surprises added on later.

Do you take my insurance?

We work with most PPO dental insurance plans and we file the claim for you. If you are uninsured, ask about our membership plan and payment options when you call.

My tooth got knocked out. What do I do right now?

Pick it up by the crown, not the root. If it is dirty, rinse it gently with milk or water without scrubbing. Try to place it back in the socket, or keep it in a cup of milk or your own saliva. Then call us immediately. The first hour matters most.

I have a lot of anxiety about the dentist. Can you help?

Yes. We offer nitrous oxide sedation to keep you relaxed through the appointment, and you can still drive yourself home afterward. Tell us when you call so we have it ready for your visit.

¿Hablan español?

Sí. Nuestro equipo habla español con fluidez. Llámenos al (972) 793-0927 y con gusto le atendemos.

Do not wait it out

Dental pain does not fix itself.

It gets bigger, it gets more expensive, and it always seems to peak at 2 in the morning. One phone call today is the cheapest it will ever be.
